India recognizes that developing talent of a global calibre is essential to creating a strong semiconductor environment and that the foundation for this is high-quality education. Important steps have been made, such as changing the curriculum to give degrees and diplomas in subjects related to the semiconductor business. The initiative to create a curriculum for the BTech in Electronics (VLSI Design and Technology) and Diploma in IC Manufacturing has been spearheaded by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). In order to guarantee an adequate pool of talent for the semiconductor sector, the government needs to keep funding the creation of strong educational initiatives. However, the issue goes beyond textbooks and classrooms.
